A CAPPELLA SOCIETY

The A Cappella Society is a student run organization that currently hosts four a cappella groups on campus. They are registered under SA/LD as the collective A Cappella Society, however, each a cappella group hosts its own rehearsals and performances. Learn about each of the groups below!

The A Cappella Society is not affiliated with the Department of Music at CCSU.

"Since their founding, the AcaBellas have developed both in membership and style. Our members have changed, our repertoire may be different, but our passion for music always remains the same.
From their home at Central Connecticut State University, the members of this all-female A Cappella group come together to create beautiful music while developing lasting friendships. Dedicated to making music together, the ladies of ACABellas aim to better themselves, their school, their community, and maybe even the world by sharing their love and talent for music."

ACABELLAS

"We are Divisi, Central Connecticut State University's Tenor-Bass A Cappella group. Divisi is a group that prides itself on its ability to sing fun, entertaining, and supremely musical repertoire while still balancing great internal and external relationships. The most important part of our mission is that our audiences leave feeling entertained and encouraged to spread our music to others.
We are a group of 14 students who sing contemporary A Cappella music. We reside at Central Connecticut State University. Everything from Indie Rock to Dubstep (It's been done before!)"

Divisi

"Chromachord is the newest and only current co-ed a cappella group in the CCSU A Capella Society.

Celebrate music. Build a legacy."

"Based in New Britain, Connecticut, Too Good For Instruments (TGFI) is a collegiate all-female a cappella group at Central Connecticut State University that has a passion for performing. Our goal is to share our love of music with others, and we've done so throughout New England. In our little black dresses (LBD's) and sky-high stiletto's, we plan to take the a cappella world by storm and sing fun, original arrangements!"

In February of 1972, there was a desire to develop another Black organization on campus. A few students banded together and the first rehearsals began under the direction Michael B .Hill, James A. Knight, and Reverend Robert Mason, Central's first black campus minister."
This group is independent from the Department of Music as well as the A Cappella Society.
